The Handicraft industry in India has 744 handicraft clusters employing nearly 212,000 artisans and offering over 35,000 products. Dominated by female artisans, this sector is a promising prospect for India’s rural population. Thus, Samriddha Gram plans to minimize the shortcomings of this sector through skill upgradation via training of SHGs.
The immediate benefits of the training are:
- Organized production
- Improved technical and digital understanding
- Use of updated production methods
- Standardized and timely production
The training is focused on imparting best practices for ensuring the highest quality of the final products. The QA training aims to decrease the risk of product defects and the QC training seeks to produce a standard quality of products according to the norms set by a specific organization. The major line of products includes agarbatti, bamboo products, jute products etc.
Samriddha Gram weaves the QA/QC training with other empowering programs like training in Digital marketing, digitization in production, stock management and sales, etc. The overall support leaves no space for loopholes ensuring faster and substantial growth among rural enterprises.
Thus, the training will improve the productivity and efficiency in the handicraft sector which will eventually lead to employment generation. It will help the rural population in embracing handicrafts at a larger scale and be positive about its growth and entrepreneurial possibilities.
